| HJ-9B Anti-Tank Guided Missile |
The HJ-9B is the latest evolution of the HJ-9A ATGM. It is currently slated for deployment with the ZBD-08 IFV, but will likely see additional service with other vehicles as China's up-and-coming go-to anti-tank missile.
The HJ-9B is a quantifiable upgrade over the HJ-9A missile. It shares many of the same physical characteristics (including a 152mm diameter), but the 38kg missile has an improved combat envelope. With its minimum distance reduced by half to fifty meters and its maximum range increased to 6,000 meters, the HJ-9B is able to engage targets in a battle space that is one kilometer greater than its predecessor.
The HJ-9B also features improved penetration, being capable of penetrating 1400mm of rolled homogeneous armor. The HJ-9B utilizes the same guidance systems of the HJ-9A and is backwards compatible with all domestic platforms.
